The INGREEN project has successfully closed, and a new video summarizes its main results. The project aimed to develop new methods to transform side streams from whey, wheat and rye bran, and wastewater of paper and cardboard factories into bio-based ingredients. The project screened a large number of microorganisms to identify those that could efficiently convert these side streams into useful compounds.
By using selected safe microorganisms and eco-friendly technologies, the project successfully developed new products and ingredients for various sectors, including food, feed, pharma, cosmetic, nutraceutical, and packaging. These products are made from renewable and sustainable sources, are better than the benchmarks and have a lower environmental impact compared to traditional products.
