Project results from INGREEN will be presented during the BBI special session titled Bio-Based ingredients, on Tuesday 2 November in Lausanne, Switzerland.

INGREEN will be joined by two BBI projects namely PROLIFIC and NEWPACK in this special session dedicated to bio-based ingredients. The former is focused on integrated cascades of processes for the extraction and valorisation of proteins and bioactive molecules from legumes, fungi and coffee agro-industrial side streams. The objective of NEWPACK is to validate the production of at least two new bio-plastics based on PHB-PLA blends with improved sustainability performance, obtained by the addition of natural extracts with antioxidant/antibacterial properties and nanoadditives from cellulose and chitin.

For the INGREEN project, our project partners from the University of Bologna, Italy will present the latest scientific research results. Davide Gottardi will present research results on Yarrowia lipolytica, as adjunct culture obtained using dairy by-products, to produce innovative and sustainable cheeses. His colleague, Lorenzo Siroli will talk about prefermented ingredients from milling by-products for the production of innovative bakery prototypes.

The 35th EFFoST International Conference will be held in Lausanne, Switzerland from 1-4 November 2021. The conference titled Healthy Individuals, Resilient Communities, and Global Food Security  will be hosted by Agroscope, Bühler Group, EPFL, ETH Zürich and Nestlé, and supported by an independent scientific committee. The rich and diverse conference programme comprises of 11 plenary lectures, 3 panel discussions, more than 170 oral contributions in 30 sessions and over 350 poster presentations.  Each year, EFFoST conference hosts world-renowned researchers, scientists, policy makers, professionals and students to share the latest developments and create new partnerships in multi-disciplinary food-related fields.
